The Snaefell Mountain Railway (Manx: Raad Yiarn Sniaull) is an electric mountain railway on the Isle of Man. It joins the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell, at 621 m (2,036 feet) above sea level the highest point on the island. It connects with the Manx Electric Railway (MER) in Laxey. The line is 8 km (5 miles) long, is built to 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) gauge. The line was opened on 20 August 1895. The railway operates with five of the original six identical tramcars, all built in 1895 by George F. Milnes & Co.
