This funicular began construction in 1934, under the direction of engineer Joaquim Homs Oller, but due to the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), it was not put into operation until 1942. It was burned down in 1968 and did not return to service until 1972. In 1982, the service became the responsibility of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The funicular operated until 1987, when it was replaced by a gondola lift, inaugurated in 1988.
