The McCord Museum, formerly known as the McCord Museum of Canadian History, is a public research and teaching museum dedicated to the study of social history and the history of Montreal. The Museum’s Archives, Documentary Art, Dress, Fashion and Textiles, Indigenous Cultures, Material Culture and Photography collections, containing 2.5 million images, objects, documents and works of art, position it as the custodian of a remarkable historical heritage. It is located directly across the street from McGill University, in the downtown core of Montreal. On 13 October 1921, the McCord National Museum, as it was then called, moved to the former McGill Union building, designed by Percy Erskine Nobbs in the Arts and Crafts tradition.[The collection was based on the McCord family collection. Since 1878, David Ross McCord had been adding to the already considerable collection assembled by his family since their arrival in Canada. Over the years, he developed the plan of founding a national history museum in Montreal, at that time Canada's metropolis. Starting 31 August 2022, the museum was renamed the McCord Stewart Museum. This followed the permanent closure of the Stewart Museum in February 2021 and the integration of its collection into that of the McCord Museum. The Stewart collection consisted of approximately 27,000 artefacts related to the European presence in New France and North America.

RESTAURANT BEIM HOFMEISTER, Wien (Österreich / Austria)

RESTAURANT BEIM HOFMEISTER
Bräunerstrasse 7
1010 Wien (Österreich / Austria)
www.restaurant-hofmeister.at

[In the place of actual restaurant the imperial riding stables of Empress Maria Theresria had been situated till 1687. The portal, adorned by an escutcheon, was erected in 1684 and has been well preserved to this day. Indeed gastronomy was established since 1723 under these vaults. The whote building was called “Freihaus Walterskirchen”. In 1878 Katharina Breyer founded here the so called “Protiviner Bierhalle”, named after the small Bohemian town Protivin, where a famous brewery was situated. As of 1902 the new owner decided to sell only the famous Eudweiser beer. In 1919 the grandparents Hofmeister took over the restaurant and called it “Zum alten Burgkeller”. In the postwar era the restaurant changed its name into “Bukarest” and after 1998 once more into “Beim Hofmeister” named after our surname, in honour and gratitude of our grandparents.]

GOSPORT AND FAREHAM OMNIBUS COMPANY (England). Bus ticket

GOSPORT AND FAREHAM OMNIBUS COMPANY (England). Bus Bell Punch ticket Nº E 1919. 1½d.
[The company originated in 1878 when a bill to develop the Gosport Street Tramways, a subsidiary of the Provincial Tramways Company Ltd was promoted. No results were evident until 17th July 1882 when 8 horse cars ran a 7½-minute headway route from Gosport Beach (now the ferry) via Elson Road to Brockhurst. This was one of the many Provincial Tramway systems in Portsmouth, Cleethorpes, Devonport and Cardiff. A bill to change the Companies legal name to Gosport and Fareham Tramways was proposed in 1906, but not proceeded with. It was however, duly adopted as the fleet name. A bus service form Bury Cross to Lee-on-Solent was opened up by the tramway company in 1910 and later extended to run from Brockhurst to Lee-on-Solent. The 1914-18 war terminated bus operations and in the early post war years a large number of one-bus operators appeared in the Gosport and Lee areas and through the 1920s competition with the trams grew fierce. In 1929 the Bury Cross route was converted to motor buses and the Fareham route cut back to Ann's Hill. The last trams ran on 31st December 1929 and the company changed its name to the Gosport and Fareham Omnibus Company. Seven tramcars went to nearby subsidiary of Provincial Tramways, the Portsdown and Horndean Railway, which continued until acquired by Southdown in 1935. The intensive network of services radiating from the Ferry, Haslar, Elson, Fareham Railway station and West End Estate, and a number of circular routes in Gosport were built up before the Second World War. The Company was hard pressed during the war due to the many service establishments in its area of operation; at the time of D-Day, even the veteran Leyland's saw service. Since the war the large Bridgemary estate has been served, and open toppers popularised the Stokes Bay route. One-man vehicles were introduced after 1953 on four lightly patronised routes. With nationalisation imminent, the private hire department was detached in 1947 to the parent company, Provincial Traction Company. Since 1936 the company had been the sole survivor of the once large Provincial system. In March 1969 the parent company Provincial Traction Company Limited (so renamed in 1936) was taken over by the Wiles Group and from 20th May 1969, this group was renamed the Swain Group.]

MUSEO STORICO P.C., Viale Europa, 00144 Roma EUR (Italia). Cartolina pubblicitaria.

SYDNEY FERRIES (Australia). Cruise the Harbour brochure (1997)

SYDNEY FERRIES (Australia). Cruise the Harbour informative brochure. (6.1997)
[Sydney Ferries is a statutory authority of the New South Wales Government, operating a fleet of 28 ferries and providing commuter ferry services on Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River in Sydney, Australia. The earliest known ferry to operate on Port Jackson was The Rose Hill Packet (commonly known as "The Lump") which was built in 1789, and ran to Parramatta. This and other small boats carried cargo and passengers across the harbour and its estuaries. Sydney Ferries started life as a private sector company. In 1861, the North Shore Ferry Company was formed operating a ferry service across Sydney Harbour. The company was restructured and the name was changed to the North Shore Ferry Company in 1878. In 1899, after a series of mergers, the company was renamed Sydney Ferries Limited. At one point, Sydney Ferries Limited was the largest operator of ferries on the world. In 1951, Sydney Ferries Limited was facing financial difficulties, and on 1 July 1951 the company was acquired by the New South Wales Government. Meanwhile, up until 1972, the Manly ferry service had been operated independently by the Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company, a publicly listed company on the Sydney Stock Exchange. On 19 April 1972, the Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company was acquired by Brambles Industries Limited. Following a threat by Brambles to reduce the Manly ferry services, the New South Wales Government arranged for the Public Transport Commission to take over the service as from 1 December 1974. The Public Transport Commission later became the Urban Transit Authority of New South Wales, and then the State Transit Authority. In 2004, the Sydney Ferries Corporation was formed out of the State Transit Authority. In December 2008, the state owned corporation reverted to a statutory authority.]
