The Peralada Festival, or Castell de Peralada Festival (officially: Castell de Peralada International Music Festival), is a classical music festival held annually in July and August since 1987 in the grounds of Peralada Castle. In 1992, it joined the European Festivals Association (EFA), thus establishing itself as a prestigious festival alongside renowned names such as Bayreuth, Berlin, Florence, and Salzburg. Later, in 2006, it became a member of the Spanish Association of Theatres, Festivals, and Opera Seasons XXI. Since 2007, it has also been a member of the Spanish Association of Classical Music Festivals (FestClásica), and since late 2010, it has been a member of Opera Europa.

The Washington Monument is a 555-foot (169 m) tall obelisk on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, a Founding Father of the United States and the nation's first president. Construction of the presidential memorial began in 1848. The construction was suspended from 1854 to 1877 due to funding challenges, a struggle for control over the Washington National Monument Society, and the American Civil War. The stone structure was completed in 1884, and the internal ironwork, the knoll, and installation of memorial stones was completed in 1888.

The Aller, belonging to North German Lloyd, was built in 1886 by Fairfield in Glasgow. The ship had four masts, two funnels, and a speed of 17 knots. It could accommodate 150 first-class passengers, 90 second-class passengers, and 1,000 third-class passengers. It was the NDL's first fast steamer built entirely of steel and featured a triple-expansion engine. The ship was launched on 18 February 1886, and on 24 April, it departed Bremen for its maiden voyage to New York. In 1897, it sailed between Bremen, Southampton, and New York. On 15 June, it collided with the British fishing cutter Willie near Amerland. The cutter sank, and six men lost their lives. Later that year, the third and fourth masts were removed, and the funnels were lengthened. On 21 October 1897, it sailed from Genoa to New York for the first time, and continued this route until 1902. On 27 January 1898, the crew of the Aller rescued the 23-member crew of the sinking British steamship Dago. Its final voyage began on 6 November 1902, in Genoa. It was subsequently decommissioned and scrapped in 1904.

The Teatro Colón is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world by National Geographic. The theater in the present building opened on 25 May 1908, with Giuseppe Verdi's Aïda. In 2006 a full restoration work was started that would extend until 2010, when it was reopened on 24 May in commemoration of the Bicentennial of Argentina.
