This Orthodox monastic complex, known as the Monastery of the Caves, is one of the largest Christian centers in Ukraine. It was founded in 1051 by the monk Anthony as a monastery in a cave on the outskirts of kyiv. Between 1060 and 1062, the first wooden monastery was built on that site, and later other buildings began to be erected, including the first construction of the Church of the Ascension of the Virgin. A fire caused extensive damage in 1718, and the archive and printing press were completely destroyed. Reconstruction took ten years during this period. Most of the churches that can be seen today were built: the new Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Trinity Gate Church, the Church of All Saints, etc. Construction of the Great Bell Tower began in 1731. The last major work was the Refectory, which was built between 1893 and 1895. In 1926, the Soviet authorities closed the monastery, which was transformed into a state museum. In June 1988, on the occasion of the millennium of the Orthodox Church, all the buildings in the complex were returned to the Church. The complex has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine (MIST) illustrates Ukraine's history from ancient times to the present. It holds about 800,000 items in its collection, and usually has approximately 22,000 items on permanent display. The museum holds world-famous archaeological, numismatic, ethnographic and weapons collections, examples of decorative and applied arts, manuscripts, prints, paintings and drawings, as well as relics of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of the 20th century. The museum began its activities with an archaeological exhibition in Kyiv in 1899 as the Museum of Antiquities and Arts. It was housed in the unfinished building designed by the prominent architect Vladyslav Horodetsky.

The Маршрутне таксі (literalmente 'Routed taxicab') is a share taxi found in Eastern Europe and the republics of the former Soviet Union. Usually, the taxicabs are vans, they drive along set routes, depart only when all seats are filled, and may have higher fares than buses. Passengers can board a marshrutka anywhere along its route if there are seats available. Fares are usually paid before the marshrutka leaves.

Tha Lviv Opera building was constructed between 1897 and 1900, when Lviv was the capital of the autonomous province of Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Запорожець за Дунаєм is a Ukrainian comic opera with spoken dialogue in three acts with music and libretto by the composer Semen Hulak-Artemovsky (1813–1873) about Cossacks of the Danubian Sich. The orchestration has subsequently been rewritten by composers such as Reinhold Glière and Heorhiy Maiboroda. This is one of the best-known Ukrainian comic operas depicting national themes. It was premiered with a Russian libretto on 26 April 1863, in St Petersburg (at the time the capital of the Russian Empire). However, it is now normally performed in a Ukrainian translation.
