RESTAURANT OROTAVA
Consejo de Ciento, 335
Barcelona 7
Old card.
This historic restaurant opened in 1929 under the name L'Hostalet and was renamed Orotava following the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939)—a tribute to a trip the owner had taken to the Orotava Valley in Tenerife. This legendary establishment was notable for combining fine cuisine with an extensive collection of artworks displayed on its walls. It closed its doors for good on 30 June 2005, due to the retirement of its owner and manager, Josep Maria Luna, the son of the establishment's founder. Following the restaurant's closure, the entire art collection that had adorned its walls—comprising over a hundred works by artists such as Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Eduardo Chillida, and Antoni Tàpies—was auctioned off to raise funds for an organization that supports children with intellectual disabilities.
