The Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is the main auditorium of the University City of Caracas and one of the masterpieces of modern architecture in Latin America, designed by Carlos Raúl Villanueva. It was completed in December 1953 and officially inaugurated on 2 March 1954. Along with the rest of the campus, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site on 30 November 2000. It features Floating Clouds by American artist Alexander Calder—an installation composed of suspended steel and wood panels that optimize the venue's acoustics.
