Ferry IBN BATOUTA
LIMADET - Lignes Maritimes du Detroit
Tangier

Postcard published by Pergamino (1966).

The ferry Ibn Batouta was launched at the Seine-Maritime shipyards (France) on 10 March 1966, and entered service on 15 July of that year on the Tangier-Málaga route. Later, it was transferred to the Tangier-Algeciras route, from which it occasionally departed to make pilgrimage trips to Mecca. In June 1998, the Ibn Batouta was sold to the Bright Eclipse company and registered in São Tomé under the new name Valentina. In September of the same year, the vessel was detained in the Greek port of Piraeus on charges of human smuggling and was eventually sold for scrap. In November 2001, it arrived in Aliaga (Turkey), where it was dismantled.
