Bambers, also known as Poznań Bambergians, are Poles who are partly descendedfrom Germans who moved from the area of Bamberg (Upper Franconia) to villages surrounding Poznań. They settled in villages which had been destroyed during the Great Northern War (1700-1721) and the subsequent epidemic of plague. A well known aspect of Bamber culture is its extravagant female dresses.
