Once used for royal ceremonies and entertainment, the Secret Garden (Huwon) of Changdeokgung Palace is an important heritage site displaying traditional landscaping. It covers some 446,943 square meters and was historically off-limits to commoners, reserved solely for the Joseon royal family. Located in front of Bugaksan Mountain's Maebong Peak, the garden features several ponds, including Buyongji, where Buyongjeong Pavilion, Aeryeonji, Jangbangji, and Banwolji are located. The arrangement of the pavilions and buildings reflects traditional Korean architecture, demonstrating a masterful harmony between structures and nature.
