Autobuses Urbanos de Valladolid, S. A. (AUVASA) is a municipal company created on 11 June 1982, responsible for public transport within the municipal area of ​​Valladolid and, by separate management agreements, in the areas of Simancas and La Cistérniga. Urban public transport in the city of Valladolid was served by a network of trams between 1881 and 1933. Animal traction was used until 1910, and electrification of the system began in that year. Its length reached over 12 kilometres and in 1930 the maximum number of passengers was reached, 3,026,096 passengers. The emergence of an urban bus concession in 1928 quickly replaced the tram.
