Designed by architect Jaime Roca (1899-1970), this luxurious building, constructed with local stone and brick, was inaugurated in 1938 as the Gran Hotel Casino Termas de Reyes and served as an icon of Argentine high society. In the 1940s, it was expropriated and given to the Eva Perón Foundation, which transformed it into a home, school, and rehabilitation clinic for underprivileged children. It resumed its function as a hotel and casino in 1958, the year of its reopening, and after various vicissitudes, in 1999 it was restored and modernized by private investors, becoming the Termas de Reyes Spa Hotel, focused on wellness and relaxation tourism. The site had been a sacred place of rest and healing used by the curacas (local chieftains) and Incas.
