PS Waverley (named after Walter Scott's first novel)  is the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946 by A&J Inglis, Pointhouse, Glasgow, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long, Scotland, until 1973. Bought by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS), she has been restored to her 1947 appearance and operates as passenger excursions around the British coast. She was substantially rebuilt in 2000-03 in two phases by George Prior Engineering, Great Yarmouth. Since 2003, Waverley has been listed in the National Historic Fleet by National Historic Ships UK as "a vessel of pre-eminent national importance".

MV Isle of Mull (Scottish Gaelic: An t-Eilean Muileach) is one of the larger Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited ferries operated by Caledonian MacBrayne from Oban on the west of Scotland. She was designed for the route between Oban and Craignure on the Isle of Mull. After being launched on the Clyde on 8 December 1987, she entered service on 11 April 1988. The totally enclosed car deck has room for up to 70 cars. Above the car deck are two levels of accommodation, providing shelter and facilities for up to 1000 passengers.

[This company can trace its history back to the Edinburgh Street Tramways Company of 1871, also involving at various times the tramway companies of Leith, Musselburgh and Edinburgh North. The City Council (Edinburgh Corporation Tramways Department) took over operation of the tramways in 1919, at which time most of the system was cable operated. Electrification of the tram network was completed in 1923, but the first motor buses had arrived in 1919. Tramway abandonment took place between 1950 and 1956, after which the operation became the Edinburgh Corporation Transport Department.]

[Glasgow Corporation Tramways were formerly one of the largest urban tramway systems in Europe. Over 1000 municipally-owned trams served the city of Glasgow, Scotland with over 100 route miles by 1922. The system closed in 1962 and was the last city tramway in Great Britain (prior to the construction of new systems in the 1990s). The St George's Cross to Eglinton Toll tram line was opened on 19 August 1872 with a horse-drawn service by the Glasgow Tramway and Omnibus Company.[4] The Glasgow Tramway and Omnibus Company operated the tram-line and subsequent extensions to the system until 30 June 1894.In declining to renew the Glasgow Tramway and Omnibus Company operating lease, Glasgow Town Council formed the Glasgow Corporation Tramways and commenced their own municipal tram service on 1 July 1894.]
