This ship was built in 1929–1930 by the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Company at Govan on the Clyde, Scotland, for Canadian Pacific Steamships. Originally named Empress of Japan, it regularly sailed the transpacific route between the west coast of Canada and the Far East until 1942, when it was renamed Empress of Scotland. In 1958, it was acquired by the Hamburg Atlantic Line and extensively rebuilt, then renamed Hanseatic. It was assigned to the Hamburg–New York route. On 8 September 1966, the ship caught fire in New York, and on 28 September, it was towed to Hamburg, where it was deemed economically unviable. It was scrapped shortly thereafter.

Interflug GmbH (German: Interflug Gesellschaft für internationalen Flugverkehr m.b.H.), founded on 18 September 1958, was the national airline of the German Democratic Republic from 1963 to 1990. Headquartered in East Berlin, it operated scheduled and charter flights to European destinations. and intercontinental flights from its operations center at Berlin Schönefeld airport. It ceased operations on April 30, 1991.

The Ilyushin Il-62 (Russian: Илью́шин Ил-62), produced between 1963 and 1975, is a Soviet narrow-body, long-range airliner conceived in 1960 by Ilyushin.

The Clarà Museum was an art museum located in Barcelona, ​​created in 1969 in the Tres Torres neighborhood, which collected a series of sculptures by Josep Clarà. When it was closed, in 1995, a large part of the museum's collection was transferred to the National Museum of Art of Catalonia and the Museu de la Garrotxa (in Olot).

Josep Clarà i Ayats (Olot 1878 - Barcelona 1958) was a Catalan sculptor educated at the Fine Arts schools of Olot, Toulouse and Paris, the city where he settled. In the 1910s he was considered one of the leaders of the Catalan Noucentisme and established his own classic model. He returned to Catalonia in 1932. Many of his sculptures can be found, as public art, in various places in the city of Barcelona. He also excelled as a draftsman.

The Lenin riverboat began construction at Gorky's Krasnoe Sormovo shipyard in 1952, under the name Stalin. Work was stopped between 1953 and 1955, after the death of Stalin, and resumed in 1958. Named Lenin, this elegant ship, powered by diesel and electric engines, was delivered in 1959 to the shipping company VORP (Volzhskoje Obedinjonnye Retchnoje Parochodstvo - Volga United River Shipping Company), and was assigned to the long regular line between Moscow and the Caspian Sea via the Moscow Canal, the Oka River, Nizhny-Novgorod and the Volga River to Astrakhan.

Euromast is an observation tower designed by Hugh Maaskant constructed between 1958 and 1960. It was specially built for the 1960 Floriade, and is a listed monument since 2010. The tower is a concrete structure with an internal diameter of 9 m (30 ft) and a wall thickness of 30 cm (12 in). It has a "crow's nest" observation platform 96 m (315 ft) above ground and a restaurant.
