[The Illinois Terminal Railroad cars was built en 1948 for interurban passengers transport. One of its shortest routes—six miles from St. Louis, Missouri across the Mississippi River to Granite City, Illinois, was served by PCC streetcars from 1949 to 1958. This route was abandoned in 1958. In 1982 the cars was retired and put into service in San Francisco, California.]
