Biebrza National Park was established in 1993 to protect the largest peat bogs in Poland and Central Europe, located along the Biebrza River. It is Poland's largest national park and is known as a "bird paradise." It is one of Poland's richest reserves for marsh bird species. The park is famous for having the largest moose population in the country and the restored beaver population from which Biebrza takes its name.
