HOTEL BALNEARIO JAHUEL
Termas Jahuel
Advertising postcard published by Leonar, Nº 11.
Termas
Jahuel are hot springs located in Chile, in the Andes mountain range, 14
kilometers from San
Felipe and 98 kilometers from Santiago, at an altitude of
1180 meters. Its surface is 538 hectares. The hotel was built in 1912, and was
completely remodeled in 2005 (the image on the postcard is from earlier,
probably from the 1950s). All the water consumed in the hotel is of thermal
origin, and comes out at 22 degrees Celsius from the source located in its
enclosure. In 1834 Charles
Darwin verified the relaxing benefits of Jahuel, and recounted it in The
Voyage of the Beagle.
