of the NHM SG 988 Tokyo-Osaka line.
The Tōkaidō Shinkansen (東海道新幹線) is a Japanese high-speed rail line that is part of the nationwide Shinkansen network. Opening on 1st October 1964, running between Tokyo and Shin-Ōsaka (line NHM SG 988), it is the world's first high-speed rail line. The opening was timed to coincide with the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Since 1987, it has been operated by the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central, JR東海), prior to that by Japanese National Railways (JNR, 国鉄).
