The Virginia de Churruca ship was built at the Unión Naval de Levante shipyard and put into service in May 1949 for the Elcano National Company under the name of Conde de Argelejo, and since its delivery it was leased to Compañía Trasatlántica Española, which acquired it in property in 1952 and renamed it Virginia de Churruca. In 1973 it was sold to the Compañía Transmediterránea, which changed its name to Isla de Formentera. She was scrapped in late 1978.
