In the museum garden is an aquarium, classified as a historic monument, a door made for the factories of Émile Gallé as well as a funerary monument. The collections on display are made up of rooms furnished in the Art Nouveau style (bedroom, bathroom, office, dining room), display cases, devoted in particular to the works of Émile Gallé or the Daum factory, and drawings by Henri Bank. Among the artists exhibited, we can also cite Victor Prouvé, Eugène Vallin, Louis Majorelle and Jacques Gruber.

Várhegy (Castle Hill) and the Royal Castle of Esztergom have played an important role in the history of Hungarians since the 10th century, after Prince Géza (945-997) chose the hill above the Danube as his place of residence. King Béla (ca. 1020-1063) laid the foundations of the palace complex that is still known today, on the site of the previous castle, built by Stephen I (ca. 975-1038), the first king of Hungary, destroyed by a fire: walls from that time are still preserved. Thanks to the reconstruction works it was possible to save invaluable cultural value and present many historical spaces. For example, you can explore 2,000-year-old archaeological strata across a glass floor. The castle chapel, also known as the pearl of the palace, shows traces of the introduction of Gothic. The details of the fresco with lions emphasized the victorious power of the king, etc. The panorama from the White Tower is impressive.

VALENCIA, Spain. Tramways in Porta de Serrans. Postcard (1930s)

VALENCIA
Tramways in Porta de Serrans.

Postcard published by JDP, Valencia (1930s).

On 23 June 1876, Valencia's first tram, powered by horses, linked the city with its Grau port. The construction work on the first tram infrastructure in Valencia was carried out between 1887 and 1888. The first line that was put into service, on 21 November  1891, connected the Empalme station in Burjassot with Bétera, with a length of 14.7 km. On 7 July1892, the second line was inaugurated, between the current Pont de Fusta and Grau stations, with a length of 5.8 km. The tram network was successively expanded. In 1917, the Compagnie Générale des Tramways de Valence (Spain) Société Lyonnaise, known as La Lionesa, and the Sociedad Valenciana de Tranvías, which had been established on 16 January 1885, merged and the Compañía de Tranvías y Ferrocarriles de Valencia (CTFV) was born. The rise of Valencian trams occurred in the 1940s and 1950s and their decline began in 1957 as a consequence of the great flood that affected the city, and from then on the progressive disappearance of the tram as a means of urban transport began. In 1986 FGV (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana) began to operate the city's new trams.
